Alchemy of the Earth: From Pigment to Paint

Join us on Sundays from 2:00p.m. to 4:45p.m. to forage, mix, and conjure your own pigments. Mud, berries, stone, ink—our woods are full of hidden colors waiting to be revealed. What will you create when nature itself becomes your palette?
In this hands-on workshop series, you’ll learn to transform raw earth into usable, professional-grade materials—inks, paints, charcoal, and chalk pastel stones.
Led by Pam Bowers, currently teaching Painting in the Five Senses at the Columbia Museum of Art. Pam has guided pigment workshops across the Southeast, Europe, and Chicago, and is thrilled to share her gifts here at the beautiful new Fern Song Studio.
Full Workshop: $350
2 Week Portions: $130 Each

Part 1: October 6th & 12th

All Materials Included. Ages 15+
Features: foraging, processing /creating and refining pigment sourced in local native earths & plants as well as creative explorations.
Part 2: October 19th & 26th
Sunday, 2-4:45 pm.
All Materials Included. Ages 15+
Features: Creating handmade drawing pastels, making & hunting drawing stones, making charcoal & inks and creative explorations.
Part 3: November 2nd & 9th
Sunday, 2-4:45 pm.
All Materials Included. Ages 15+
Features: making oil paint and other paints from native & collected pigments & making inks along with creative explorations.
